SUMMARY:RÉVÉLATIONS 2025 WITH FRENCH LIVING IN MOTION
DESCRIPTION:Révélations 2025 :  The 7th edition of the biennale organized by Ateliers d’Art de France  \nFrom 21 to 25 May 2025\, the Grand Palais in Paris once again hosted Révélations\, celebrating creativity\, innovation\, and heritage of contemporary craft from around the world. \nThe French Center of Design had the opportunity to collaborate with the French Furniture Export Group (GEM) by selecting and accompanying a delegation of 5 international interior designers and architects during the Révélations fair.\nAs an accelerator of its industry and ambassador of the French art of living abroad\, GEM supports the development of French furniture and living space manufacturers in all their actions abroad. \nOver 2 days the delegation was introduced to the best French manufactures and craftsmen. The delegation had the opportunity to meet and connect with many different stakeholders and actors of the industry\, paving the way to future business opportunities. \nWe had the pleasure of organizing a visit for the delegation to Notre-Dame Cathedral\, which has recently reopened to the public. On this occasion\, we specially invited Mathieu Lustrerie\, one of the key workshops involved in the restoration of this iconic monument. A member of their team provided us with thoughtful insights into the techniques and materials used. This family-owned company specializes in the restoration and reproduction of antique chandeliers. \nwww.revelations-grandpalais.com\n@biennale_revelations\n \n

SUMMARY:NICOLAS DE STAEL GUIDED TOUR
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition “Nicolas De Staël” at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris \nGuide tour in French (duration 1:30h) with translation \nNicolas de Staël exhibition is sold out and will be closed on January 21st: it is no longer possible to buy tickets at the Musée d’Art Moderne (online or on site). This is your last chance to see one of the most exciting exhibition of this winter in Paris. \nTwenty years after the one organized by the Centre Pompidou in 2003\, the Musée d’Art Moderne is devoting a major retrospective to Nicolas de Staël (1914-1955)\, a key figure on the post-war French art scene. \nStaël’s biography immediately created a myth around his art: from his exile after the Russian Revolution to his tragic suicide at the age of 41\, the painter’s life never ceased to influence the understanding of his work. \nWithout neglecting this mythical dimension\, the retrospective intends to remain as close as possible to Staël’s graphic and painterly research\, in order to show above all a painter at work\, whether facing the landscape or in the silence of the studio. An exiled child who became a tireless traveller\, the artist is fascinated by the world’s spectacles and their different lights. \nConstantly varying the tools\, techniques and formats – from the tableautin to the monumental composition – Staël liked to work on several canvases in parallel\, superimposing layers of paint and successively altering them. \nFeaturing around 200 pieces\, the exhibit comprises paintings\, drawings\, prints\, and notebooks sourced from collections across Europe and the US. \nThe exhibition tracks Staël’s artistic journey from his early figurative works to his vibrant\, abstract pieces before his premature passing. Staël’s refusal to conform to artistic trends is evident as he seamlessly melds abstraction and figuration\, aiming for a more profound and concise expression. \nThis immersive retrospective takes viewers on a journey through Staël’s life\, from his travels to his final days in Antibes\, exploring his ceaseless pursuit of an ever-evolving art form. \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:MODERNIST ARCHITECTURE
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a one-day excursion outside of Paris\, dedicated to exploring the modernist architectural heritage. \nFirst\, we will visit the Maison Louis Carré\, a residential building in the south-west of Paris\, designed by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto for art collectors. This remarkable structure showcases Aalto’s distinctive style and approach. We will have the opportunity to explore its unique features and appreciate its architectural significance during a private guided tour in english exclusively for our group. \nNext on our itinerary is the Villa Savoye in Poissy – a modernist manifesto by Le Corbusier. This iconic building is the last in Le Corbusier’s white villa cycle and perfectly encapsulates the Modernist architectural vocabulary. Abandoned\, it was restored by the French state from 1963 to 1997. It was listed as a historic monument in 1964 when Le Corbusier was still alive\, an extraordinarily rare occurrence. \nBetween the 2 visits\, we will take the time for a gastronomic break and have lunch in the former hunting lodge of Louis XIV in the heart of a 4-hectare wooded park. \nPlease note that transportation will be provided in a van departing from Paris\, and lunch is included. \nLimited number of places. Please register before the 1st of June. \nMORE INFO

SUMMARY:PRIVATE VISIT YSL MUSEUM
DESCRIPTION:Private visit exclusively for our group before the museum opens \nExhibition “GOLD by Yves Saint Laurent”  \nGuide tour in English (duration 1:15h) \nSince 2017\, the museum dedicated to the great couturier of the 20th century has been located in the historic mansion where the works of Yves Saint Laurent were born. Decorator Jacques Grange designed the exhibition spaces. The museum positions itself as a witness to the History of the 20th century and a certain art of living. \nThe exhibition presents gold through some forty haute couture and ready-to-wear dresses\, selected accessories and objects\, as well as display cases filled with jewelery\, essential to the Yves Saint Laurent silhouette. \nWhether reflected in sun-filled memories of Oran and Marrakech\, or on display with objects collected by Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent or accessories designed by Loulou de La Falaise\, gold has always inspired the couturier’s oeuvre. \nYves Saint Laurent’s radiant character illuminates this chrono-thematic journey through a dazzling diversity of ornaments\, sumptuous fabrics and exquisite materials. \nTo complement the creations of Yves Saint Laurent\, the museum has invited the Belgian sculptor Johan Creten to exhibit five works that remind us of the extent to which gold has always inspired artists. \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:GALERIE DES GOBELINS
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition “Chic! Decorative arts and furniture from 1930 to 1960″ \n1 hour guided tour in English \nBrought together for the first time as part of an exhibition\, nearly 200 works from the collections of the Mobilier national revive the essence of French “Chic”. \nThrough the scenography designed by Vincent Darré\, the exhibition allows visitors to follow the development of the decorative arts over the period from 1930 to 1960 with the reconstruction of large furniture sets such as the development of the Kinsky hotel or the sovereigns’ apartment at the Château de Rambouillet. \nFrom 1930 to the end of the 1950s\, most of the decorators who would make the history of these three decades of the 20th century were called upon to collaborate with the Mobilier national: André Arbus\, Jules Leleu\, Jean Pascaud\, Étienne-Henri Martin\, Marc du Plantier\, Gilbert Poillerat or Raphaël Raffel. The figure of the decorator then plays a capital role. A true designer\, he designs decoration as a harmonious whole and orchestrates artistic crafts in the service of a global project. The art of refinement is then based as much on the preciousness of the materials (parchment\, gilded bronze\, crystal\, lacquer\, etc.) as on the search for the line\, up to the purity of the design. \nOf remarkable quality and diversity\, the collection of the Mobilier national is the first in France for this period. Witness to Art Deco and research in the field of decorative arts during the 1940s and 1950s\, this set includes both ceremonial furniture\, heirs to a long tradition of luxury\, and functionalist pieces that mark the transition towards contemporary design. \nSupporting crafts and creation since the 17th century\, the Mobilier national’s mission is to ensure the conservation and restoration of its unique collections in the world\, to perpetuate and transmit exceptional know-how. A major heritage site\, the institution is also a major player in contemporary creation and the promotion of French-style decorative arts. The Mobilier national creates and restores tens of thousands of pieces of furniture and objects intended for furnishing and decorating public buildings in France and abroad. \nREGISTER
